SUMMARY:Rombouts-Shilin Conference
DESCRIPTION:On Friday 10 and Saturday 11 October\, Shilin Journal organizes the Rombouts-Shilin Conference at Leiden University and Campus The Hague. For two days\, a multifaceted programme will be available with lectures\, panels and discussions on China.  \nThis year we welcome China journalist Cindy Huijgen\, Dr. S.S. Kharchenkova\, Dr. V.K.L. Chang\, Prof. dr. M. van Crevel and Dr. W. van Noord (China curator at the Wereldmuseum). In addition\, students of China Studies and Asian Studies will present their research.  \nThis year’s theme is: “China on the move: challenges in a changing global order.” \nChina is going through profound changes\, which are visible in economy\, society\, history and culture. During the conference\, we will explore how tradition and innovation influence each other and what insights this offers into contemporary developments around China.  \nIn addition to keynotes and lectures\, there will be interactive student panels\, discussions and the presentation of the Young Scholar Award: Friday for the best bachelor’s thesis and Saturday for the best master’s thesis.
