Leiden Asia Centre (LAC) is the Dutch knowledge centre that explains how Asia is changing the world today. The LAC focuses on current developments in China, India, Indonesia, Japan and both Koreas, specifically in the field of geopolitics, technology and climate. Clingendael<\/a><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Clingendael is a renowned international research institute that collects, analyzes and, where possible, shares knowledge on behalf of the government, among others. There is a special China department within Clingendael that maintains an international network of China experts and also houses the coordination and secretariat of China Knowledge Network. <\/p>

The CKN (China Knowledge Network) was set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for research and reflection in support of government policy. All policy ministries and hundreds of experts are involved in CKN. CKN is setting up a European CKN in Brussels together with EU partners. <\/p>

Eye on Digital China<\/a><\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Eye on Digital China is an independent platform about Chinese social media trends and digital culture. It was founded by the Dutch sinologist Manya Koetse, who regularly appears in the media to explain digital developments in China. <\/p>

With a keen eye on the Chinese internet landscape, Koetse explains what lies behind recent hashtags and trending topics via the website and the accompanying Weibo Watch newsletter. In this way, she builds a bridge between the Chinese and Western media landscape and gives an insight into what concerns people in China. <\/p>

On his site www.blogaap.nl<\/a> , China expert Fred Sengers shares analyses, in-depth information and opinions about China. His intention is to tell the news consumer interested in China just a little more than he already knew from the newspaper or the news. An important goal for him is not only to follow China and geopolitical developments from a Western perspective, but also to look through a different lens to better understand what is happening and why it is happening. <\/p>

Sengers worked for years in journalism for newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. Since 2013 he has been working as an independent publicist, speaker and researcher with Modern China as his main topic. Together with American expert Kenneth Manusama, he also makes the podcast The State of the World in which they interpret the world news from an American and Chinese perspective. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Shilin is an academic platform founded by students of the China Studies programme at Leiden University. The foundation’s goal is to offer young talent a stage and to bring students, PhD candidates and established researchers into contact with each other. Through the journal, conferences, lectures, and other activities, Shilin contributes to the academic debate on China and broader Asia-related themes. <\/p>

The Shilin Journal publishes excellent theses and papers by students and PhD candidates twice a year. This makes Shilin a professional academic journal, but by and for young researchers. In addition, Shilin organizes events and conferences that give students and PhD candidates the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas and further expand their network. <\/p>

Peter’s Perspective is an independent platform of Peter Gill about current developments in China, Taiwan and Singapore. Through his blog and newsletter East Asia Insights, he analyses developments in the field of economy, technology, energy and culture. In doing so, he offers context and interpretation beyond Western reporting. <\/p>

Peter hopes to build a bridge between East and West, as he did with his book West meets East. Because he believes that greater mutual understanding and cooperation are essential to solve global challenges. <\/p>
