SUMMARY:Wakker kussen
DESCRIPTION:Een expositie die over grenzen heengaat: van eeuwen en continenten. Zo is de expositie ‘Wakker kussen’ te bestempelen. Elf hedendaagse kunstenaars laten zich inspireren door verborgen Chinese schatten uit het depot van het Centraal Museum. \nVier maanden lang biedt Landhuis Oud Amelisweerd onderdak aan deze zelden of nooit getoonde objecten en aan wat deze bij de kunstenaars losmaken. En de bosrijke omgeving is goed voor een knipoog naar het sprookje van Doornroosje: het eeuwenoude Chinese porselein wordt eventjes wakker gekust. \nLandhuis Oud Amelisweerd met z’n uniek\, handgeschilderde\, achttiende-eeuwse behang uit China biedt een passend en sfeervol decor voor deze ontmoeting tussen oost en west\, tussen vroeger en nu. Ook de gunsten en gruwelen van de handel met Azië kunnen zomaar in de werken doorschemeren. \nDe kunstenaars variëren in leeftijd tussen begin twintig en een eind in de zestig. Acht geboren in Nederland\, drie hebben Aziatische wortels. Ze hebben één of meer kunstwerken uit het museumdepot als het ware geadopteerd en vertellen daar in keramiek hun eigen verhaal\, gevoelens en gedachten bij. Dat kan gaan over vorm\, verleiding\, verzet\, geschiedenis\, kleur\, kunde\, techniek\, functie\, impact\, vreugde\, verdriet\, noem maar op… De kunstenaar is vrij. \nKeramiekpodium Utrechtse Aarde is de afgelopen jaren samenwerking aangegaan met andere disciplines en organisaties. Steeds met als doel om verrassend en vernieuwend werk te laten ontstaan. Kunstenaars voelen zo de uitdaging om buiten de gebaande paden te denken en te werken\, maar toch trouw te blijven aan de eigen stijl en zeggingskracht. Kruisbestuiving over de grenzen van tijd en land vormt dit keer het experiment\, uitmondend in een gecombineerde expositie van historisch en hedendaags werk.\nLandhuis Oud Amelisweerd is de enthousiaste gastgever. Rondom het pand vinden keramiek-workshops plaats\, onder meer door Kunstenhuis Idea\, met vestigingen in Zeist\, Bunnik\, De Bilt\, Soest en Driebergen. SUMMARY:Rombouts-Shilin Conferentie
DESCRIPTION:Op vrijdag 10 en zaterdag 11 oktober organiseert Shilin Journal de Rombouts-Shilin Conferentie aan de Universiteit Leiden en Campus Den Haag. Twee dagen lang staat een veelzijdig programma klaar met lezingen\, panels en discussies rondom China. \nDit jaar verwelkomen we onder meer China-journalist Cindy Huijgen\, Dr. S.S. Kharchenkova\, Dr. V.K.L. Chang\, Prof. dr. M. van Crevel en Dr. W. van Noord (China-curator bij het Wereldmuseum). Daarnaast presenteren studenten van Chinastudies en Asian Studies hun onderzoek. \nHet thema van dit jaar is: “China in beweging: uitdagingen in een veranderende wereldorde.” \nChina maakt ingrijpende veranderingen door\, die zichtbaar zijn in economie\, samenleving\, geschiedenis en cultuur. Tijdens de conferentie onderzoeken we hoe traditie en vernieuwing elkaar beïnvloeden en welke inzichten dit biedt in de hedendaagse ontwikkelingen rond China. \nNaast keynotes en lezingen zijn er interactieve studentenpanels\, discussies en de uitreiking van de Young Scholar Award: vrijdag voor de beste bachelorscriptie en zaterdag voor de beste masterscriptie. SUMMARY:The 4th Chinese Mental Health Day in the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:Mental health is one of the defining issues of our time. The COVID-19 pandemic\, rapid social change\, and modern pressures have made mental well-being more pressing than ever. Yet for many immigrants—including the Chinese community in Europe—mental health remains a sensitive or even stigmatized topic. \nTo address this issue\, the Foundation of Intercultural Participation of Chinese Families (IPCF) launched the Chinese Mental Health Day four years ago. Since then\, the event has become a safe place for Chinese families to gather\, learn\, and openly discuss topics which often left unspoken. This year marks the 4th edition\, taking place in Amsterdam on October 11–12\, 2025. \nThis edition consists of 10 workshops in total. The theme is balance—between body and mind\, self and others\, heritage and new change. The program combines professional expertise with cultural sensitivity\, supported by psychologists\, therapists\, and coaches from across Europe. The Workshop topics covers mindfulness\, body–mind healing\, intimate relationships\, parenting\, art therapy\, and cross-cultural family communication. All sessions are conducted in Mandarin\, tailored to the realities of Chinese people living in Europe.\nChinese Mental Health Day creates a sense of belonging for then\, whose daily life often carries multiple pressure: integrating to local community while preserving their original cultural identity. Parents face different child-rearing norms\, young adults navigate identity conflicts\, and elders may feel isolation. The festival offers space for participants to share experiences\, recognize common struggles\, and draw strength from community. Many participants describe it as a rare opportunity to pause\, reflect\, and find comfort in knowing they are not alone. \nAt its heart\, the event is about connection and empowerment. It not only provides practical skills to handle stress\, promote communication\, and improve relationships but also nurtures cultural identity. By bridging Chinese traditions with Dutch society\, the event helps families feel rooted while also embracing new possibilities.
