In 2001, Dutchman Jakob Hollander boarded a green train to China for the first time. From that moment on, he developed a deep connection with China. He fell deeply in love with the country and formed lasting and meaningful friendships with the people he met there.
With his camera, he captured tens of thousands of moments from China. Across no fewer than forty photo albums, he documented Chinese landscapes, the everyday lives of ordinary people, and, without realizing it at the time, the remarkable changes China has undergone over nearly three decades.
These photographs are precious and unique. This exhibition presents Jakob’s personal collection of images, offering a heartfelt visual story of China, its people, and the friendships he formed there.
Jakob Hollander is also currently working on a photo book about the special connection between the Netherlands and China. The book is expected to be published next year and made available to readers.
