Symposium | Longquan: Celadon through Time and Space | Friday, 25 September 2026 | 09:15–17:00 | Rijksmuseum Auditorium, Amsterdam

Join us for an international forum exploring the history, global circulation and contemporary relevance of Longquan celadon.

Bringing together scholars, museum curators, ceramic specialists and contemporary artists from China and the Netherlands, the forum will explore Longquan celadon through craftsmanship, archaeology, maritime trade, museum collections, cross-cultural exchange and contemporary artistic practice.

From the kilns of Zhejiang and the Shengbeiyu shipwreck to European museum collections and contemporary experiments with glaze, the programme presents Longquan celadon as a living cultural tradition shaped by craftsmanship, circulation, collecting and creative reinterpretation.

Organised by DutChinese Foundation, in partnership with the Royal Asian Art Society in the Netherlands (KVVAK) and Asian Art Department, Rijksmuseum, with the generous support of Jupiter SR and CHAxART.

Admission is free. Registration is now open through the KVVAK event page.
