In her book published this year, she takes a deep dive into the history of Huawei, which she considers China’s most powerful and secretive company. Huawei (meaning “China is great”) is a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment and network solutions and has grown to become one of the world’s largest players in the telecom sector. Dou seeks to unravel how this company, which only started legally as a technology firm in China in February 1987, managed to rise to such heights in just over thirty years despite numerous obstacles.
