2023 Sino-Dutch Gateway to Sino-EU Economic & Trade

The VNC participated in the 2023 Sino-Dutch Gateway to Sino-EU Economic & Trade Cooperation Forum organized by ACIEN and the CCCEU on Dec. 19.

With a daily trade volume of nearly €2 billion, China is the third largest partner for EU exports and the largest partner for EU imports.

Cooperation between Dutch/European and Chinese companies and knowledge institutions also contributes to Dutch innovation and earning capacity and to the exchange of technologies and ideas for today’s and tomorrow’s shared societal challenges.

And more and more Chinese companies and workers are also coming to our country.

In the rapidly changing world where our relationship with China is under pressure, but where the economic importance between the Netherlands/EU and China continues to grow, it is important, even for us, as the leading China-focused organization in the Netherlands, to adapt to this new reality.

Specifically, in addition to our historic mission of promoting dialogue, arts and culture, it is becoming more important to strengthen our role within the business community and build stronger ties with the Chinese community in NL.

The association was therefore honored to be part of the 2023 Sino-Dutch Gateway to Sino-EU Economic & Trade Cooperation Forum organized by ACIEN (Association of Chinese Invested Enterprises in the Netherlands) and the CCCEU Chinese Chamber of Commerce to he EU).

The VNC has long had a strong relationship with ACIEN. In September 2017, for example, we organized the Belt and Road Forum in the Netherlands, the first time the VNC and ACIEN worked together. The Chinese Investment Forum during the 2022 Investor Day at the Beurs van Berlage was also a joint success.

But our relationship goes beyond business and we are proud to have been able to bring members of ACIEN and the CCCEU together with the Princess Maxima Center for Pediatric Oncology and recently jointly launch Peter Gill’s book “West meets East.”

The VNC sees our relationship with ACIEN and the CCCEU as very important, because the combination of our organizations brings unique strengths in building stronger ties between our 2 cultures and together can create business opportunities here in the Netherlands for Chinese companies, as well as for continued investment in China from the Netherlands.
