The most recent China cafe paid attention to the Chinese film industry, one of the largest in the world.
anne sytske keijser, translator and lecturer of Chinese Studies at Leiden University and an expert on Chinese films and the industry gave a lucid presentation on how film in China is created, insight into production and regulations and the distribution of the more than 800 films produced each year.
Chinese films are mainly characterized by action films but that is not all. One of the most successful films of all time was a “comedy” titled “๐๐ข, ๐๐จ๐ฆ,” the debut film of director and actress ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ; a semi-autobiographical fantasy story about a young woman who is suddenly thrown back in time to the year 1981, where she meets her mother and develops a sisterhood bond with her.
